Wells Cathedral to host Somerset Festival of Remembrance 2025

By Laura Linham 13th Aug 2025

Wells Cathedral will host the Somerset Festival of Remembrance 2025 in November, marking WWII's 80th anniversary with performances and tributes.

A major commemorative event will take place in Wells later this year to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.

Wells Cathedral will host the Somerset Festival of Remembrance 2025 on Saturday 1 November, from 7pm to 9.30pm.

Organised by Somerset County Royal British Legion, the one-off event will feature music, stories and formal tributes.

The evening's programme includes performances by the Central Band of the Royal British Legion and the Yeovilton Military Wives Choir. Cadet forces from across the county will also take part, alongside veterans and civic leaders.

A highlight of the event will be the parading of the Somerset Book of Honour and an Act of Remembrance with poppy drop. The programme will reflect Somerset's wartime experience and its local significance.

Former BBC broadcasters Clinton Rogers and Ali Vowles will compere the event, and all proceeds will support the Royal British Legion and Wells Cathedral. Early booking is advised.
