Wells Bishop’s Palace asks for old photos for summer exhibition
By Laura Linham 16th Apr 2026
The Bishop's Palace and Gardens in Wells is asking local people to dig out old photos and memorabilia for a new summer exhibition.
The exhibition, titled Fun and Games at The Palace, is due to take place this summer and will be built around memories and items shared by the local community.
The Palace said it would like to hear from people who remember past events held at the site, including a wrestling match in 1967 and the It's a Knockout TV show in 1973.
It is also inviting people to share moat boat race costumes, photographs, programmes and other keepsakes linked to events at the Palace.
The appeal has been issued by Siobhan Goodwin, Community Engagement Manager at The Bishop's Palace, who is asking anyone with memorabilia or memories to get in touch.
The Palace says the exhibition will celebrate the many fun and unusual events that have taken place there over the years, with local people's contributions helping shape the final display.
Anyone who would like to know more, or who can share material, is asked to contact Siobhan Goodwin at [email protected].
