Traffic chaos as A39 Bristol Hill closes following three-vehicle collision

By Laura Linham   18th Sep 2023

A serious road traffic collision involving three vehicles has led to the closure of the A39 Bristol Hill near Wells, causing significant delays and prompting diversions.

The incident is affecting traffic between Wells and Farrington Gurney, with a spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) confirming they were called to the scene at 8:44am.

Motorists are advised to expect some delays and are urged to use alternative routes where possible. Diversions are currently in place, guiding traffic to the A37 via Shepton Mallet as a workaround.

Police have advised that the closure is likely to remain in place for "a couple of hours."
