Bosses at the Queen Victoria Inn in Priddy are offering a fresh way to celebrate the Summer Solstice this year.

On June 21, the longest day of the year, the pub will kick off its very first Summer Solstice run, inviting locals and visitors to enjoy a five-mile journey through the beautiful Mendips.

All the money raised from the event will go to Children's Hospice South West (CHSW).

The run, which starts and finishes at the pub, begins at 7pm and will be followed by an evening of live music from Ryan Haynes and a barbecue.

This new summer event follows the success of the pub's annual Santa Run, which also supports the charity.

Debbie and Mark Walton, who run the pub, are no strangers to community events. The pub itself, dating back to the 1800s, is famed not only for its seasonal ale but also for its spectacular Christmas lights display featuring a 7-foot bottle tree made from more than 4,000 bottles.

Runners can register with an entry fee of £10. Those looking to contribute further can get in touch with CHSW area fundraiser Kylie Gallagher for a fundraising pack and running vest. She can be reached on 01275 866600 or at [email protected].
