Wells vets say longer appointments help pets
By Laura Linham 22nd May 2026
A veterinary practice in Wells says longer appointments are helping create calmer and more personalised visits for pets and their owners.
Nurture says its standard consultations last 20 minutes, compared with the 15-minute appointments commonly offered elsewhere.
The practice says the additional time allows vets to listen carefully to owners, carry out thorough examinations and properly discuss treatment and care options.
According to Nurture, many owners arrive with several concerns they want to raise during a single visit, including behaviour changes, medication, diet, mobility or ongoing medical conditions.
The Wells practice says its consulting rooms have been designed to feel more relaxed, with additional space and desk areas similar to a GP surgery.
Staff say pets are examined wherever they feel most comfortable, including on the floor or on their owner's lap, helping reduce stress during appointments.
Nurture says consultations are focused on calm, stress-free interactions in line with its pet-friendly clinic accreditations.
Each appointment includes a full health check, with vets working alongside owners to create treatment or care plans tailored to individual pets.
The practice also says it aims to provide continuity of care by encouraging owners to see the same vet whenever possible.
According to the team, familiar faces can help pets feel more relaxed while allowing vets to build a better understanding of their long-term health and personality.
Nurture says its 20-minute consultations give owners and pets around a third more time with their vet while remaining competitively priced.
