A puppy that ignores a recall, chews hands or wakes the household at night can leave new owners with plenty of questions. Nurture Vet's weekly puppy classes in Wells cover those early challenges alongside the basics of training.

The Wednesday evening sessions run from 6.30pm to 7.30pm and are open to puppies under 20 weeks old. They are led by Emma, a registered veterinary nurse, and Sophie, who is training to become an RVN.

Owners can practise recall, loose-lead walking and polite greetings, while puppies get the chance to become familiar with people, other dogs, sounds and new surroundings.

The classes also cover toilet training, biting, sleep and adolescence. Nurture Vet says numbers are kept small, with space and regular breaks so puppies can take part at their own pace.
