Strode College has been formally congratulated in Parliament by Glastonbury and Somerton MP Sarah Dyke after receiving a prestigious national award for its commitment to cybersecurity education.

The college has been awarded the CyberFirst Silver Award by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), recognising its outstanding work in preparing students for careers in the rapidly growing cybersecurity sector.

Ms Dyke tabled an Early Day Motion in the House of Commons to celebrate the achievement, praising the college's innovative approach and highlighting the success of its CyberCon event, hosted by T Level students.

"I warmly congratulate Strode College on achieving the CyberFirst Silver Award," said Ms Dyke. "This prestigious recognition highlights their exceptional efforts in cybersecurity education, particularly the impressive hosting of CyberCon. Initiatives like these equip our young people with invaluable skills and experiences that are crucial in an increasingly digital world."

CyberCon brought together industry professionals, students, and experts for workshops and career insights. Students from Strode College can also apply for the CyberFirst bursary, offering £4,000 a year to support higher education in the field.

Ms Dyke added: "Strode College is leading the way in strengthening the UK's cyber workforce. I urge the Government to invest more in further education colleges delivering digital and cybersecurity training, ensuring we meet the growing national demand for skilled professionals."
