Wells Carnival takes place tomorrow (November 15) and the city will be lit up by thousands of lights and a host of colourful carts.
One of the entrants will be Wells-based Globe Carnival Club, and they have been sponsored by local law firm Mogers Drewett.
Employees at Mogers Drewett's Wells office have been reminiscing about their experiences and memories of carnival.
"I can still recall the light and heat that was emitted from the carts which was very welcome on a chilly November evening," said Victoria Strode.
"I was amazed at the energy of all the performers, it was as if they had only started the procession but they had been going for hours. You can really feel the passion and hard work that goes into it."
Tom Chiffers remembers as a child, his father creating a make-shift viewing platform out of two ladders and a plank of wood that was the envy of all those around.
"People must have thought my Dad was mad when they saw him carrying the ladders and plank towards the route of the carnival," he said.
"However quizzical looks were replaced by those of envy when the crowds gathered and my brother and I had the best view of anyone.
"We got lots of requests for people to perch on the steps of the ladders so that they could get a better view. The pirate carts were always my favourite."
Not just a spectator, Cara Burr actually performed on a cart, ensuring the best position – on top of the generator (it was the 1970s).
