A community quiz night will take place in Wells this weekend to raise funds for the campaign to save and reopen the Britannia Inn.
The event, organised by the East Wells Community Benefit Society, will be held at St Thomas' Church Hall on Saturday 11 October at 7pm. Proceeds will go towards the society's second community share offer, which aims to raise between £276,000 and £415,000 to buy and refurbish the Britannia Inn on Bath Road.
The pub closed in June 2021 following the retirement of its long-standing landlords.
The society launched its first share offer in April this year, raising over £76,500 from 128 shareholders before it closed at the end of June. A second offer is now open to both new and existing investors.
Entry to the quiz is £3 per team player, with teams of up to six people. Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be available to buy on the night. Attendees are welcome to bring their own alcoholic drinks. Committee members will be present to answer questions and provide information about the share offer.
The society has triggered a six-month moratorium under the Asset of Community Value legislation, which expires in March 2026.
