Priddy Primary School has received another 'Good' rating from Ofsted, underscoring its successful blend of academic rigour and broad personal development.

This well-rounded approach is anchored in the school's mission, "Being the best that you can be," which resonates through its various educational and community initiatives.

"Pupils know the school rules of 'Be respectful, be ready, be safe'," noted the Ofsted report, highlighting the positive and secure atmosphere at Priddy Primary.

This foundation allows pupils to thrive, taking on roles that contribute significantly to the school community and beyond. "In younger years, pupils manage the fruit and are playground leaders... Eco-warriors improve pupils' understanding and care for the environment," the report further details, showcasing the practical application of the school's values.

The curriculum at Priddy Primary is described as "ambitious," designed to build a robust base of knowledge sequentially. "It has carefully sequenced the knowledge it wants pupils to learn in small steps towards bigger end points," the inspectors observed, approving of the structured learning paths that enable students to develop a strong academic foundation.

The report highlights the school's strong emphasis on reading among the array of educational offerings: "Children learn phonics as soon as they start school. All staff have been trained in the scheme to teach phonics well."

This focus is complemented by opportunities that foster a deeper appreciation for literature, such as performances on World Book Day and visits to literary festivals, cultivating a love of reading across all age groups.

However, the report does suggest areas for improvement, particularly in the assessment strategies within some broader curriculum subjects.

Moreover, the personal development program at Priddy Primary received high praise for its comprehensive coverage and effectiveness. "Pupils know how to stay safe online and look after their mental health," the report states, underscoring the school's commitment to preparing pupils for both academic and life challenges.

The leadership at Priddy Primary is commended for its clarity and effectiveness. "Priddy Primary school is well led. Governors hold leaders to account through clear lines of communication," the Ofsted report confirms, highlighting the strong governance that supports the school's high standards.
