Somerton is all set to kick off summer with a bang at its 36th annual Music & Arts Festival starting May 25th

With a lineup including live music, art displays, and community activities, the festival is a much-anticipated event, drawing both locals and visitors to celebrate the cultural spirit of the town. As the festival approaches, excitement builds with several events, including the highly anticipated Somerstock, already nearing sell-out status.

The festival's highlight, Somerstock, has seen Tier Two tickets already sell out, and the tribute act Fleetwood Bac is on track to sell out soon. Alongside ticketed events, the festival will feature an array of free events, including the Live Music Weekender on July 5th and 6th. During this weekend, local pubs will host seven live bands, transforming the town into a vibrant hub of musical activity.

Here's a glimpse at the musical acts set to perform:

  • Friday at The White Hart: Fiddleback will deliver alt-folk vibes with their mix of folk rock covers and classic foot-stomping tunes.
  • Friday at The Globe: An open mic night offers a platform for singers, comedians, and musicians to showcase their talents.
  • Friday at The Etsome Arms: Lonely Tourist, known for their guitar duets and having one of Steve Lamacq's top ten indie singles, will perform.
  • Friday at The Royal Oak: Brothers Craig and Alex Priddice will demonstrate that familial harmony can indeed exist in the music world, contrary to the Gallagher brothers.
  • Saturday at The White Hart: DJ Bacchus Deluxe promises a night of expertly mixed tracks and turntablism, spinning a diverse range of genres.
  • Saturday at The Etsome Arms: Fly Yeti Fly will bring the spirit of the late 60s folk scene alive with their poignant songs and stories.
  • Saturday at The Royal Oak: Jay Anderson, a Glastonbury-based singer-songwriter influenced by icons like John Martyn and Jeff Buckley, will grace the stage.

In addition to live music, the festival will feature talks, historical walks through Somerton, various children's events, and a special string duo evening. The grand finale, Somerstock, scheduled for July 12th and 13th, promises to be an exhilarating climax to the festival. Last year's Somerstock was a sold-out success, prompting festival-goers to secure their tickets well in advance this year.
