New Kebab Shop Planned for Former Subway Location in Wells

Residents of Wells may soon have a new option for dine-in and take-out food, as a planning application has been submitted to open a traditional Turkish kebab shop in a building that once housed a Subway.

Ramazan Ibrahim submitted the application to the Somerset Council planning department this week.

The Grade II listed building has been vacant since Subway closed its doors in 2019, but the proposed kebab shop would bring the building back into use. The plans include minor internal alterations using lightweight partitions, repairs to the wall linings, and a new countertop. The only changes to the exterior of the building would be the addition of new signs.

If the application is approved, the new shop would offer a range of Turkish dishes for both dine-in and take-out customers.

The application will be reviewed by the planning department, and a decision is expected in the coming weeks. If approved, the new kebab shop could be open for business later this year.
