Wells City Council is urging residents to share their views on the potential impacts of devolution, which could see local services transferred from Somerset County Council to the City Council.

With Somerset facing financial difficulties, this move would shift responsibility for certain services to Wells, giving the city more control over how they are managed.

A public meeting will be held tomorrow, Thursday 26th September, at 7pm in the Town Hall, offering residents a final opportunity to voice their opinions.

Cllr Stewart Cursley, Chair of the Finance and Council Matters Committee, said: "We must ensure that local services continue and improve under our management. It's vital that our decisions reflect the priorities of the community, which is why we need your input."

Devolution Officer Haylee Wilkins stressed the urgency of participation: "We're working with a tight deadline and need as much feedback as possible."

Residents can return a proforma to the City Council or attend the meeting to make sure their views are heard.
