More than 100 meals donated by Tesco Wells Superstore for Lawrence Centre's Christmas celebrations

Christmas came early for dozens of older people in Wells as Tesco colleagues delivered over 100 festive meals to the Lawrence Centre.

Staff from the Wells Superstore prepared and donated 105 Christmas meals in the run-up to the holidays for users of the centre, which supports older people — especially those with memory loss or health conditions.

A special party atmosphere added to the celebrations at the centre in Chamberlain Street.

Caleb Baker, community champion and shift lead at Tesco, said: "It's a real privilege to be part of this initiative. It brings so much joy to so many people at this special time of the year.

"As well as the meals we donated and prepared, we contributed prizes to a raffle, which was lots of fun. The volunteers at the Lawrence Centre do such an incredible job, providing a social, supportive and activity-filled environment while also combating isolation and supporting family carers."

The Lawrence Centre runs weekdays and one Saturday a month. It offers a wide range of activities including crafts, games and cultural celebrations, along with transport services to support those who attend.
