This weekend in Wells, the town is bursting at the seams with festive activities, guaranteeing that there's something for everyone – from carol singing aficionados to panto lovers and even virtual event enthusiasts.

Kicking off the festive spree on Friday, 8th December is the Contemporary Christmas Carol Concert at Portway Annexe. Hosted by The Backstreet Stompers, this isn't your grandmother's carol concert. Expect contemporary twists on classic carols, singalongs that might just get you dancing in the aisles, and a whole lot of festive cheer. It's the perfect way to start your weekend on a high note. More details are available here.

Not to be outdone, St. Thomas' Church is hosting The Chorus of Disapproval's 2023 Christmas Carol Concert on the same evening. For just £5 (and free for children), you can enjoy a more traditional carol concert experience. And with refreshments available, it's an ideal evening out for the entire family. Find out more about this event here.

On Saturday, 9th December, the Wells Little Theatre opens its doors for 'Puss in Boots - The Family Pantomime'. This isn't just any cat walking in boots; it's a swashbuckling hero cat on his very first adventure. Expect laughter, villains, and a heartwarming story that'll leave you purring with delight. The show runs until 16th December, so you've got plenty of time to catch this feline extravaganza. Tickets and details can be found here.

For a more solemn and reflective experience, join the virtual St Margaret's Hospice Light Up a Life Service on Sunday, 10th December. Honour and remember loved ones by dedicating a star in the hospice's Virtual Night Sky. It's a beautiful way to celebrate life and support the hospice's invaluable work. More information on this service is available here.

And if that's not enough, Wells is chock-full of other festive events this weekend. The Bishop's Palace is transformed into a Christmas wonderland, Wookey Hole offers a winter spectacle, and the South West Craft Fairs provide the perfect opportunity to pick up unique Christmas gifts at the town hall on Saturday. For those seeking a more cultural experience, 'A Christmas Carol' at Wells Cathedral and an evening of Folk Music and Storytelling with Beth Webb at the Almshouses are not to be missed.

So, grab your coats, round up the family, and dive into the festive spirit in Wells this weekend. With such a variety of events, the biggest challenge will be choosing what to do first!
