Wells man gears up to pedal across Britain for the Lawrence Centre – with wife, daughter and campervan in tow

The record for cycling from Lands End to John O' Groats is an amazing 43 hours, 25 minutes and 13 seconds.
We should point out that time does not include breaks for food, sleep and sheer exhaustion.
Now Chris Hall, a software designer from Wells, has committed to riding this 1,095-mile marathon which includes 54,300 feet of climbing, not to try and break the record. But for charity.
"I discovered the Lawrence Centre was having difficulties raising enough money to keep going.
"They provide support to older people with debilitating diseases and memory issues such as Alzheimer's, dementia and Parkinson's.
"They also aim to reduce social isolation and give family carers a break by providing support five-six days a week."
His mum Kathleen suffered from dementia so helping the Lawrence Centre is personal for Chris as he knows how difficult it was for all concerned.
But there is one hurdle to be crossed.
"I am fit," said Chris, "but not quite fit enough. So I am now working with a coach to get me tough enough physically and mentally. I have not done anything like this before."
His wife Nicki will shadow Chris in a campervan on his marathon ride in July so they can meet up for at lunch and supper times.
"I am very grateful to Nicki for helping me organise the trip and her all-round support," said Chris.
Also helping is their daughter Mfy (short for Mfyanwy) who has designed the poster which promotes the trip.
