Poundland has yet to confirm if they are planning to open a new store in Wells, despite job adverts for a Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager being spotted on Indeed.

The company has not responded to press queries, leaving locals wondering whether the budget retail chain is set to expand to the city.

The job listings detail the roles and responsibilities of a Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager, emphasising the importance of delivering excellent store standards and high-quality customer service. According to the job descriptions, these roles offer the chance to undertake a Retail Manager Level 4 qualification through an apprenticeship. Notably, there are no advertisements for sales assistants or other staff roles.

With more than 850 stores across the UK and the Republic of Ireland, Poundland offers a broad range of products from food to DIY supplies. The company recently invested £45 million in its business and is part of the larger European group Pepco, which operates 3,000 stores in 17 territories.

Poundland isn't the only retailer eyeing up Wells for a potential expansion. Crew Clothing has also been advertising for staff to work in a store in the city.
