Horrington Primary: A journey of resilience and renewal after Ofsted rating
Horrington Primary School has embarked on a transformative journey, facing recent challenges head-on while fostering an environment where personal development shines, as detailed in their latest Ofsted inspection.
Despite being rated as 'Requires Improvement', the school demonstrates a commendable spirit of resilience and dedication towards continuous enhancement.
Under the new leadership and as part of The Partnership Trust, the school has navigated significant changes in leadership, staffing, and curriculum organisation.
These adjustments reflect the school's commitment to its vision and high expectations, setting a clear action plan to enrich pupils' educational experience.
A highlight of the report is the school's emphasis on personal development, where pupils excel. Sporting events, cultural visits, and leadership opportunities, such as school council and house captain roles, cultivate pupils' confidence, independence, and a broader perspective of the world.
This focus on personal growth is a testament to the school's ability to create a nurturing and empowering environment for its students.
Despite facing hurdles in curriculum development and implementation, Horrington Primary has initiated many positive changes.
The report acknowledges the school's efforts in prioritising reading, adapting the curriculum to improve early years provision, and addressing the needs of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
The school's newly reviewed behaviour management system, built around its STARS values, underscores the importance of conduct, responsibility, and British values, aiming to instil a sense of respect and understanding among pupils.
Additionally, the commitment to safeguarding ensures a safe learning environment for all.
The trust and school leadership are recognised for possessing the expertise necessary to address the areas requiring improvement.
Their actions have already begun to impact the school's ethos positively. Staff morale is high, with teachers feeling supported and proud to be part of Horrington Primary's journey of improvement.
In a newsletter, the school told parents: "As a team, we are all so proud to work here at Horrington Primary School and we are excited to continue making the good progress that has been started with our colleagues at The Partnership Trust. We are committed to giving each and every pupil the very best education that we can offer and to ensuring that they make lots of happy memories along the way."
