Don't Miss Your Waste Collection on May 1st - Somerset's Special Arrangement for King Charles III's Coronation Bank Holiday

Just when you think you've got the bank holiday waste collections fixed in your head - there's a bit of a change on the horizon.

Ordinarily, if there's a ban holiday, your waste and recycling gets picked up a day later.

But there's a change from the usual arrangement for the upcoming bank holiday.

Waste and recycling collections will take place on Monday, 1st May. If you typically have recycling and/or refuse collection on Mondays, your collections will be on the same day during the Bank Holiday. For the remainder of the week, collections will take place on the normal scheduled days.

This year, Somerset's crews have arranged a special collection to accommodate the extra Bank Holiday for the coronation of King Charles III. To avoid crews having to work back-to-back Saturdays, working on the Bank Holiday Monday means they won't have to work on Saturday, 6th May.

Please ensure your boxes, bags, and bins are ready for collection on Monday, 1st May. There will be no collections on Bank Holiday Monday, 8th May, and collections will be one day later for the rest of that week, including Friday's collections which will take place on Saturday, 13th May.

All 16 recycling sites will be open as usual during weekends from 9 am to 4 pm, and will be open on both Bank Holiday Mondays from 9 am to 6 pm if opening on Mondays is part of their normal opening pattern.
