Residents and visitors to Wells will have plenty of exciting events to look forward to this weekend - from outdoor cinema to theatre productions and live music, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Somerstock is a family-friendly music festival in the heart of Somerset. 2023 sees the introduction of a Friday night of music on the 7th July, before a full day of bands and family fun on Saturday 8th July. The festival site is on the edge of Somerton, with on-site parking and camping available.  

Plenty of exciting events are happening this weekend in Wells, and here are just a few of them.

The Wells Film Centre will be returning to The Bishop's Palace on 28th April 2023 for their 7th annual outdoor screening, featuring the beloved musical Mamma Mia! The drawbridge opens at 6.30pm, with the pre-show starting at 8pm and the film following soon after. Tickets are priced at £25 per person and include a hog roast supplied by South Devon Hog Roast, a drink, and a goody bag. Bring your own blanket or seating and an umbrella, as the show will go on whatever the weather.

For fans of musical theatre, Cedars Hall will be hosting An Evening with Kerry Ellis on Friday 28th April. Ellis has performed in some of the biggest West End productions, including Oliver!, Les Miserables and Wicked. Tickets for the show are priced at £20 per person.

On Saturday 29th April, the city of Wells will come alive with the International Workers' Day Celebration. This annual march and family fun day will begin at Wells Cathedral Green and end at the Recreation ground. The event is organised by an independent socialist group and is supported by TUC South West.

On Sunday 30th April, Wells Cathedral School musicians will present a showcase of dramatic delights at Cedars Hall. Songs from the Shows is an evening of your favorite songs from the musicals, sure to leave you dazzled and wowed.

The Wells Little Theatre will also be presenting their production of Avenue Q, running from 24th until 29th April. This show tells the story of a recent college graduate trying to find his purpose in life and features adult themes throughout. The production is recommended for those aged 15 and over.
