The owner of the dog involved in a fatal attack on a cygnet at the Bishops Palace Moat has agreed to stringent conditions to prevent future incidents.
The dog, which killed the cygnet on May 3, will now be kept on a lead and muzzled whenever it is near the historic moat area.
This resolution comes after widespread public outcry and a police investigation into the events of the day.
The cygnet, part of a clutch of seven born on 20th April, was attacked despite the efforts of its mother, Grace, to protect it.
A police spokesperson stated: "After careful consideration of the circumstances surrounding the cygnet's death, we have facilitated a community resolution.
"The dog's owner and the walker in charge at the time have signed an agreement ensuring the dog will always be on a lead and muzzled in sensitive areas like the moat."
Residents and visitors are reminded to keep their dogs on leads around the moat, a measure aimed at ensuring the safety of the wildlife and the enjoyment of all visitors to the area.
