Wells High Street... so quiet
Wells High Street... so quiet

An increasing number of vulnerable people in Wells are needing support as the coronavirus crisis develops.

A host of volunteers are giving their time but money also is needed to cover the Wells Coronavirus Network's costs, including food deliveries, ID for the network's more than 200 volunteers, printing of leaflets and helpline phone rental.

The network works to co-ordinate efforts across the city to maintain the health and wellbeing of the vulnerable and combat hardship.

"The cathedral is delighted to be supporting Wells Coronavirus Network (WCN) and other organisations who are bringing vital assistance to those isolated or in other need at this time of crisis," said John Davies, Dean of Wells.

"If you aren't in an at risk category could you offer practical help? Alternatively, could you offer financial support?

"In a variety of ways, together we can deepen our community life and have a special care for those whose need is greatest.

"This is a testing time. It's testing who we are as a community and what we are about."

You can make a donation direct to the Wells Coronavirus Network by BACS. This would be used to print leaflets, provide volunteers with WCN ID, pay the helpline phone rental, and deliver food and prescriptions to the vulnerable.
