Tidying up the Geraniums by PennyAnne Windsor of Wells

During lock-up

I am going to tidy up the geraniums

prune the mahonia

compost the polyanthas

dust all the bookshelves

and the books

sort out my files

and throw out everything before 1993

and walk the dog 6 miles a day

then

depending on how long the lock-up lasts -

I am going to write a book of poems

and finish my novel

knit a jumper and several pairs of socks

make a set of cushion covers on the loom

paint a series of Art Deco pictures

read all the books

and make a comprehensive study of wild flowers

and pondlife -

and walk the dog 6 miles a day

after lock-up

(should we ever get there)

I will be a Slut

wandering around in my nightgown every day

and eating cheesecake -

and introducing the dog to the joys of the garden -

after all she will be considerably older by then

and so will I!
