By Laura Linham 15th Jun 2026
Wessex Learning Trust and Croscombe C of E Primary School have moved to firmly put closure rumours to bed, saying claims about the future of the village school are completely "unfounded".
In a public statement to families and the wider community, the trust and school said Croscombe would remain open, active and focused on its pupils.
They described it as a "thriving, caring and successful village school", supported by dedicated staff and a strong school community.
Wessex Learning Trust and Croscombe C of E Primary School said: "We are proud of our school, our pupils, and the opportunities we provide every day. Our focus continues to be on delivering the very best education and maintaining the warm, nurturing environment that makes Croscombe such a special place to learn."
Croscombe C of E Primary School serves the village between Wells and Shepton Mallet.
