The concert to support Ukrainian refugees due to take place at Wells Town Hall on Saturday has been cancelled.

The evening of helping to raise money for the Local Ukrainian Refugees at the Wells Town Hall on Saturday March 16th, had to be cancelled, as Olha Hornykh who made such an impression along with Tim Pitman at a recent event for cancer research, had other commitments and was not in a position to attend the event.

Merv Colenutt who was helping to promote the event said "we are all disappointed in the fact that event could not go ahead, as it is an event we had been waiting to pursue for several months".

"Olha, along with Tim Pitman made a huge success in the previous event back in January, but Olha has now had her sights set on more lucrative offers for the future and this was going to prove one event too many in pursuit of her expanding her career in the up and coming months ahead".

"It is a huge pity for everyone concerned as so many Ukranian Families have been forced to flee their families in war torn Ukraine and settle here in England, with several of those families coming to live in our area in Mid Somerset, so whether we will get an opportunity to pursue another concert and help raise funds for those Ukranian families, is at present open to doubt".

"We will of course be looking at other avenues in the months ahead and of course if we can attract Olha back to Wells and the Town Hall, then we will of course look to resurrect another concert, possibly in the autumn, but what has happened is a huge disappointment and we can only apologise to those who had bought tickets. All monies will be refunded to those who have paid in advance."
