Blue School students celebrate best-ever GCSE results

Students at The Blue School in Wells are celebrating a record-breaking year of GCSE results, with early analysis suggesting the 2025 cohort has achieved the strongest outcomes in the school's history.
More than 25 per cent of all grades awarded were at grade 7 or higher, equivalent to the former A and A* marks. Initial indications also show that pupils made progress well above national benchmarks.

Headteacher Mark Woodlock praised the Year 11 students for their resilience and dedication, particularly in light of the significant disruption they faced throughout their secondary education.
"As a school, we are immensely proud of this cohort of young people and the way in which they have approached this key point in their education," he said. "Their maturity and dedication is reflected in this exceptional set of GCSE grades and that should give them a great sense of achievement."
Mr Woodlock acknowledged that behind the headline figures are many individual stories of effort and determination across all subjects. He thanked staff and families for the support given to students during a challenging period and said the results had given pupils a solid foundation for their next steps in education or training.
"We congratulate them all on reaching this point with such grace and determination," he added. "Gaining these grades provides them with a passport to fully access the next steps in their education and careers."
