CHAT 2: Gavin Plumley on The Uncertain Soul

Cedars Hall, Wells

UNTIL Thursday 18th November

With live music in the foyer from 7pm.

The German-speaking world witnessed sweeping change during the early part of the 20th century with war, the collapse of dynasties and economic instability.

Cultural historian and broadcaster Gavin Plumley looks at how the artistic minds of Austria and Germany charted these uncertainties, with works centred on the self and its position within society.

The lecture will include images by Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Otto Dix and Max Beckmann.

Gavin's first book, A Home for All Seasons, will be published in 2022.
