Plans for a permanent Post Office branch in Wells have been announced.

Due to be situated in Natural Pets of Wells, in Queen Street, it will replace the temporary solution at Wells Bus Station, which opened in January.

Talented local Lower Sixth songwriter, Hetta Falzon, from Wells Cathedral School, has won this year's Song Academy Young Songwriter 2021 competition.

The result was broadcast on Tuesday evening on a livestream with some of the competition judges, including BRIT Award winner Tom Odell. Hetta, who lives in Wells, was invited to join them for an interview.

Firefighters from Wells were called to help tackle a blaze at the former Greencore factory site in Evercreech yesterday (June 26) which is suspected to have been an arson attack.

Just after 2pm, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Control received numerous calls to smoke issuing from the site, and immediately mobilised three appliances from Shepton Mallet, Glastonbury and Wells along with a supporting officer.

Firefighters from Wells were among three crews who attended a fire last night (June 25) at a home in Glastonbury.

Just before 10.30pm, fire engines from Glastonbury, Street and Wells, were all sent to a report of a domestic property on fire in Edgarley Close, Glastonbury.
