With a number of senior players sidelined through injury and illness Wells had no less than five of their Colts team in the match day squad for their home encounter with Bristol based St Bernadettes Old Boys.

These included Jack Wedmore making his first start and Tom Manship who debuted off the bench. Playing in the backrow they both made positive contributions in defence and attack.

Wells City secured a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Devizes last night, coming to life for a devastating 20 minutes at the end of the first half.

The first chance wasn't until 23 minutes when Harry Foster got to the byline and his cut back was met by Tom Hill whose cross shot found Harvey Hadrill but he failed to finish from six yards.

An early penalty was the difference as Wells City lost 1-0 to Calne Town at the weekend, and both sides had a player sent off.

The only goal of the game was scored on eight minutes when some soft defending was exploited by a long ball forward that was flicked on by Windsor and as Chevallou was about to pull the trigger, Mark Randall fouled him, giving a penalty away. The penalty was duly dispatched and Calne took the lead.

Wells City's crushing 4-0 defeat of Longwell Green Sports on Tuesday evening has put them within a point of the league leaders with a game in hand.

Saturday's crucial fixture against third in the table Calne Town has now become a headline maker as all three sides are now close enough to fight it out tooth and nail for the two promotion places, although Radstock Town are still very much in the mix.
