The Bishops Palace in Wells hosted an archery tournament on Saturday, 27th July, bringing together 22 members of the Wells City Archers for a day of competitive shooting on the picturesque Palace lawns.

The annual event, known as the Maria Eden Shoot, is named in honour of Maria Eden, daughter of former Bishop of Bath & Wells, Lord Auckland (1854 – 1869), who was an avid longbow enthusiast.

Medals and trophies were awarded to the top archers, celebrating their skill and precision.

"It was an excellent day of shooting, and it was fantastic to see all of our members enjoying the lovely setting and weather while letting their arrows fly!" said Matt Rowse, tournament organiser.
