Imperial 26 – Wells 0

With no less than 42 players unavailable for selection it was a strange looking and inexperienced team that Wells took to Bristol yesterday (February 22).

While the windy and wet conditions were the same for both teams, the experienced Imperial side looked more at home in them.

Wells, however, did not sit back and often took the game to their opponents, but a couple of injuries to key players early on did not help.

In addition the home team possessed a dominant pack and indeed all of their four tries came from their supremacy in this area.

Imperial's first score after ten minutes happened when they won a scrum in midfield and then powered in under the posts for an easy conversion.

Two more after 25 and 35 minutes both came from pushover tries plus a conversion giving the home team a 19 point to nil half time lead.

Wells played exceptionally well in the second period, especially in defence. Waves of Imperial attacks were repulsed and just a single try came mid-way through the half and yes, it was another push over try which was converted.

This Saturday (February 29), weather permitting, Wells take on old rivals Tor, kick off 2.30pm.
