Harry Foster and Charlie Crook were the stars as Wells City came from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with Warminster at the weekend.

An early chance for Warminster saw Francois Allen shoot over the bar from close range.

Wells took the lead on seven minutes when a Ross Padfield throughball saw Craig Herrod get to the byline before firing a low cross back across the box and Foster, still with a lot to do, put the ball back across goal and into the bottom corner.

On 10 minutes there was a chance for Wells as Padfield rose tall to meet a Tom Hill cross but his header was straight at Crabtree.

Warminster equalised on 15 minutes as Allen played a neat one two with Miluk before steering his effort in off the post.

After 17 minutes it was Harvey Hadrill with a chance this time with a towering header but it clipped the top of the bar and went over.

Warminster took the lead on 24 minutes when slack defending from Wells saw a cross into the box not dealt with and an awkward bounce saw Harley Wilkinson spill the ball into Allen's path and he got his and Warminster's second of the game.

On 41 minutes there was an unbelievable save from Wilkinson as he got down low to his left and somehow hooked the ball over the crossbar to deny Warminster a third.

On the stroke of half time, there was a chance for Herrod as he weaved his way into the box but Crabtree was equal to his effort and saved low to his right, leaving the half time score Warminster 2-1 Wells City.

Just two minutes after the restart Warminster extended their lead with a breakaway goal as they hit Wells on a counter and Miluk was there to calmly slot the ball under the onrushing Wilkinson.

Wells quickly pulled a goal back, however, as Crook, with a brilliant throughball, found Foster who smashed the ball beyond Crabtree and scored his and Wells' second.

Then Wells equalised on 70 minutes after good pressure from Hadrill saw a hashed clearance drop to Dale Hunt on the edge of the box, who then rode a challenge before unleashing an unstoppable shot into the far corner.

On 80 minutes a cross into the box from Hill found Ross McErlain but his hooked volley went agonisingly wide.

After 86 minutes a melee in the Warminster box saw the ball drop to Hill but he smashed his effort high over the bar.

With just two minutes left, a Warminster break saw Allen ride two challenges before he was thwarted by Wilkinson when he should have squared to his team-mate who could have tapped it in.

In the dying seconds, another sustained bit of pressure from Wells saw Foster find some space from 12 yards out but he uncharacteristically blazed over, leaving the final score 3-3.

Man of the match went to Crook who battled well in midfield before dropping to centre half for the final 35 minutes and steadying the ship.

Wells entertain Devizes tomorrow night (February 4) before another home game against Portishead on Saturday.
