There are scheduled to be temporary traffic lights along the A39 from Wells to Polsham this week.
From Monday (June 15) to Friday (June 19) there should be rolling temporary traffic lights from the Strawberry Way Roundabout in Wells through to Polsham but not around any junctions.

More than 100 miles of Somerset roads will be surface dressed this summer, including some in and around Wells, to improve the surfaces for motorists and prevent potholes from forming.
Somerset County Council has published a full list of every road which will be dressed up until September, including those where the work has already been completed.

The future of the Wells Post Office building in the Market Place is again up in the air after a planning application to turn it into a restaurant was withdrawn.
The application for notification for prior approval to change the use of a shop (use Class A1) to restaurant (use Class A3) at the Post Office, Market Place, Wells, had been made by Andrew Forsey.

The future of Wells and Mendip Museum is looking more secure after a successful Crowdfunding campaign has raised more than £7,000 for the organisation.
On the Crowdfunder website, the museum has been running a campaign looking for financial support to help it survive the coronavirus lockdown.
Mendip District Council has confirmed that Wells Market will return from this week.
Wells Market will open on Wednesday (June 10) and on Saturday (June 13), operating on Wednesdays and Saturdays moving forward.
Avon and Somerset Police are seeking the public's help to find wanted man Gage Gallacher.
They wish to speak to the 25-year-old, from Wells, in connection with an assault investigation.

Congratulations to singer/songwriter Hetta Falzon, from Wells, whose song Obsession has made it through to the top three songs shortlisted for the finals of the Song Academy's Young Songwriter of the Year, 13 to 18 year UK/Ireland category.
This year's competition attracted more than 700 entries from aspiring young songwriters across the world, with a wide variety of genres, from folk to jazz, soul, rock, punk, reggae and pop.
