One fire appliance from Frome, one from Shepton Mallet and the Rescue Tender from Trowbridge were sent to a report of a road traffic collision at the above location.
On arrival crews confirmed that the incident involved one vehicle and that one male person was trapped.  Fire crews released the casualty using stabilising equipment, wire strops, ratchet straps and a telehandler. The injured man was taken to hospital by air ambulance.  Police also attended.

Many of the youngest pupils at a Wells school have enjoyed a creative week off-timetable following the theme A Snapshot in Time, as part of their annual summer Arts Week.

Early Years pupils at Wells Cathedral Junior School journeyed through time with The Doctor on their very own hand-crafted Tardis from Dr Who, with Year 1 pupils "visiting" Pompeii just before Vesuvius erupted, to investigate the science behind volcanoes, conduct experiments with jelly volcanoes, and soda and mentos eruptions, as well as meeting some beautifully dressed Roman ladies from the era.

With seasonal growth now appearing on paths across Somerset, volunteers are invited to help protect and maintain the county's public rights of way.

All you need to do is sign up to 'Adopt a Path' and report back any issues such as overgrown stiles or gates, missing or overgrown signposts or waymarks and overgrown vegetation. You can also assist a step further by helping to keep pinch points, signposts, stiles and gates vegetation free.

This month saw our AGM. Our President Jane reviewed another successful year, praising the way members have shown great enterprise in setting up special interest sub-groups and thanking those who lead sessions for women interested in crafts, reading, cooking, skittles and walking among other things and, soon, walking netball.

Activities over the last year had ranged from running a tea tent at the Bath and West Show, putting together bags of useful items for the homeless at Christmas and taking part in the Wake Up Wells event. We had experienced a great programme of talks and enjoyed some brilliant social occasions. Our Treasurer Barbara reported that finances were healthy. Although we have 61 members paying subscriptions, rising costs of hall hire and speakers means it will be important to continue to spend sensibly. The committee were all re-elected to their current roles.
