A WELLS grandfather who came close to death when his heart stopped twice has bought a defibrillator that might save other people's lives.
The retired prison officer thought he was having indigestion.
But his wife, Jenny, decided to call 999 because she was concerned it might be something more serious.

BUS passengers travelling from Wells to Bristol or Street on New Year's Day are in for a treat.
Buses will operate on an hourly frequency and a selection of buses and coaches will be on display in the bus station for most of the day.

A WELLS Festive Windows competition has raised nearly £500 for St Margaret's Hospice.
Tina and Wells Town Crier Len Sweales judged the entries on December 3 and 4 before declaring Rock House Dental Practice the winner.

Crews from Wells were mobilised to reports of a fire in the open at the above location.
On arrival crews discovered a fire involving a bin store at the rear of a property.
Crews used one hose reel and one breathing apparatus set to extinguish the fire and Positive Pressure Ventilation to clear the smoke from the property.
The bin and the contents were completely destroyed by the fire with the compound fifty per cent damaged by the fire.
