In an impressive display of community spirit and solidarity, the Wells and Glastonbury Young Farmers' Club (YFC) hosted a charity tractor run on Sunday, February 25, successfully raising more than £1,500 for Heads Up Somerset.

This vital charity provides support to adults dealing with mental ill health and dementia, making a significant impact on the local community.

The event saw an enthusiastic turnout, with between 98 and 100 tractors rumbling through the countryside in a colourful parade of agricultural might.

The choice of Heads Up Somerset as the beneficiary of the fundraiser holds personal significance for the club, as one of their member's fathers is currently receiving support from the service. This personal connection added an extra layer of meaning to the event, highlighting the importance of community support systems and the impact of mental health services.

Organised by young farmers Ben Kearle, Molly Lockyer, and Joe Clark, with support from the broader Wells and Glastonbury YFC group, the tractor run not only served as a fundraising initiative but also as an opportunity to bring together the agricultural community for a day of solidarity and awareness-raising.

In a Facebook post, the organisers said: "We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came to raise money for a great charity! We had 98 tractors turn up which is a great turn out considering the weather.

"Thank you to our amazing stewards who helped run the route as smoothly as possible, thank you to all our photographers who braved the weather. Thank you to all our spectators who came to support us and watch the tractors and thank you to everyone who has donated."

The total amount raised, £1,527.35, will go a long way in supporting the ongoing efforts of Heads Up Somerset to provide essential services to those in need. Events like these demonstrate the power of community-led initiatives in making a tangible difference in the lives of individuals facing mental health challenges.
