The Wells Stone Carving Festival is set to make a grand return to Bishop's Barn this year after a six-year hiatus.
With the support of the Worshipful Company of Masons, the festival promises an exciting lineup from May 4 to 6, curated by stonemason Paul Roddan.
The festival is anticipated to draw attention not only for its celebration of stone carving but also for the community it builds among craftsmen. The 2018 festival saw the auctioning of works raising over £6,000, a testament to the event's popularity and impact.
"These gatherings are a vital opportunity for masons and carvers to unite, share, and revel in our craft, breaking the often solitary nature of our work," Mr Roddan said.
The event welcomes not just professionals but anyone interested in witnessing the meticulous skill of stone carving.
Attendees can look forward to interacting with the artisans, learning about the craft, and even participating in an auction to take home a unique piece of stonework. The festival will also award prizes to the most outstanding pieces, as judged by professionals, organisers, and the public.
Those interested in participating or volunteering at the festival are encouraged to email [email protected].
