This weekend, Wells promises a range of engaging and fun-filled events suitable for every age and interest.

Kickstart your Friday, August 4th, with the August Soul Shack at The Sheppey, for a two-day extravaganza featuring soulful music and a vibrant atmosphere.

On Saturday, August 5th, there's something for everyone. The day begins bright and early at 9 AM with the Avalon Guns Open Day 2023 at Mendip Shooting Ground. Here, enthusiasts can learn about the latest advancements in the field and test their marksmanship skills.

For literature lovers, Wells Cathedral is hosting the 'Books & Chains (Library Tour) 2023' from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, promising a day of literary exploration and discovery.

Also at 10 AM, the Repair Café at Wells Library opens its doors, inviting everyone to bring their items in need of fixing. This event, organised by Sustainable Wells, promotes a culture of recycling and repair rather than discarding and replacing.

Between 11 AM to 3 PM, the Wells & Mendip Museum hosts a Creative Family Workshop focused on Cyanotype Portraits. This unique and interactive session provides an exciting opportunity for families to create together and learn new skills.

If you're a football fan, make sure not to miss the Wells City vs AFC Portchester match at The Athletic Ground on Rowdens Road starting at 2 PM. Cheer on your favourite local team in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.

On a more artistic note, the Wells Art Contemporary exhibition commences on August 5th and runs through September 2nd at Wells Cathedral. The exhibition will showcase the work of contemporary artists from around the globe.

Running from August 6th to August 30th is 'DRAW!' at Cathedral Green. This art event will inspire both professional and budding artists, and might even inspire you to pick up a pencil and start creating.

Family fun isn't left out this weekend in Wells. If you're looking for ways to help the kids burn off some energy, why not book a soft play session at The Square providing a great avenue for little ones to burn off energy and interact with peers. It's a surefire way to ensure the kids have as much fun this weekend as the adults.

No weekend is complete without a relaxing film session. Wells Film Centre is set to showcase an array of films over the weekend that cater to all tastes, from thrilling action blockbusters to heartwarming dramas.

And at the Bishop's Palace, until the 3rd of September, families can take part in the Summer Scavenger Hunt. Hidden within the picturesque gardens of The Bishop's Palace, participants will discover a world of fun featuring a climbing frame, tunnel, waterwheel, and sluice gates. This is an ideal opportunity for the little ones to let their imaginations run wild in a beautiful outdoor setting.

The magic of storytelling will also be a prominent feature at The Bishop's Palace this summer - until the 29th of August, families are invited to gather and listen to tales that promise to enthral audiences of all ages. For those who love to create, Family Crafting activities will be available until the the 31st of August. This is a fantastic chance for families to embrace the vibrant summer season, get hands-on, and create beautiful crafts.
