Innovative kiosk system brings Citizens Advice services closer to Wells Community
In a significant stride to bridge the digital divide, Citizens Advice Mendip has introduced a new kiosk system in Wells, Somerset, designed to facilitate access to its advice services for people lacking internet access or a phone.
This fresh approach, embodied by the recent Portway Annexe and Town Hall installations, is a testament to the organization's commitment to ensuring readily accessible advice for everyone.
The kiosk is a user-friendly platform that provides free access to a local adviser by phone or email, negating the need to dial a number or navigate through online processes.
For those wishing to explore more, the kiosk also enables access to the Citizens Advice national website.
Available from Monday to Friday, 10am-4pm, these kiosks serve as a beacon of assistance for the local community. They remind residents that help for pressing issues is just around the corner, even for those who may find digital tools challenging to use.
Faith Guest, Operations Manager for Citizens Advice Mendip, expressed her optimism about the new service.
She remarked, "We are introducing this service to reach out to those people in the community who are vulnerable and may not be able to use the phone or the internet to contact us. The new kiosks offer a simple way of getting in touch with us. We're not a faceless call centre – many of our advisers have been working in the local area for many years!"
The Wells kiosks are part of a broader initiative that also covers Glastonbury, Street, Shepton and Frome.
