In an inspiring display of community spirit, a six-year-old Wells resident named Archie overcame his shyness to support a local charity, The Lawrence Centre.

The Lawrence Centre plays a pivotal role in the community, offering essential day opportunities for the older population. It extends its support to individuals, including those facing health challenges and memory loss, aiming to enhance their quality of life through various engaging activities.

Archie took the initiative to sell his pre-loved toys along with his mother's homemade chutney and some homegrown vegetables, setting up a stall at the front of their Wells home.

According to his mother, Alice, this act of charity saw Archie transform from a typically reserved child into a confident young salesman. "He shouted out what was for sale, really came out of his shell and was not our usual shy boy," she remarked.

The young philanthropist's efforts were in aid of The Lawrence Centre, chosen particularly because Archie's best friend's grandmother, Maggie Charlesworth, runs the charity. His endeavours resulted in a £40 contribution to the centre.

Maggie Charlesworth expressed her appreciation for Archie's contribution. "What a wonderful achievement for someone as young as Archie," she said. "We are so grateful to him."
