Brenda Bannister (left) presents Nikki Copleston with her prize cheque

Wells crime writer Nikki Copleston has won first prize in the Frome Festival Short Story competition with her story, "Saying Goodbye to Laura".

Competition judge Keith Stuart, author of "A Boy Made of Blocks", chose the story because he believed in the characters and was really swept along by the situation.

Brenda Bannister, one of the competition organisers, presented Nikki with her £400 prize this week. The story can be found here: Saying Goodbye to Laura by Nikki Copleston @ Frome Festival Short Story Competition (fromeshortstorycompetition.co.uk)
