Wells Trishaw Project back on the road as free rides return for summer

The Wells Trishaw Project is back for the summer, offering free rides around the city to those who need a little help getting out and about.
The community project, which uses a battery-assisted rickshaw-style tricycle, is designed to help people who are lonely, isolated, or living with memory issues or poor mobility enjoy a trip through the streets of Wells.
Last summer, the project celebrated a major milestone by delivering its 100th ride, with demand continuing to grow.
Backed by a team of 11 volunteer pilots who do all the pedalling, and supported by a dedicated group working behind the scenes to organise rides and raise funds, the Wells Trishaw Project has become a valued part of the city's community life.
Over the past year, the team has taken part in a range of local events including Singing for the Brain, the Sunshine Club, the Memory Café, The Lawrence Centre, Heads Up, the Almshouses, the Moat Boat Race, the Lantern Parade and Wells Carnival.
Organisers are keen to remind residents that the service is completely free. To book a ride, simply call 01749 467079.
With summer just around the corner, the team is looking forward to helping even more people enjoy everything Wells has to offer.
