Wells is set to host a unique and entertaining event that promises to bring a touch of historical fun to the city.

The Great Sedan Chair Steeplechase, organised by Wells Rotary, will take place at the Recreation Ground on Sunday, 29th September, offering an unusual twist on the traditional steeplechase.

Teams of five are encouraged to participate in this extraordinary event, where the challenge lies in constructing their own sedan chair.

Four team members will carry the chair, while the fifth enjoys the ride, as they navigate through a course peppered with various obstacles, all in a race against time.

The event is not only about fun and games; it serves a charitable purpose, with proceeds going to support the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

For those interested in taking part, details about the event, including rules and entry forms, can be obtained by emailing [email protected].
