Wells spring clean underway as city readies for 2026 events
By Laura Linham 30th Jan 2026
Wells City Council has launched its 2026 Big Spring Clean, with new benches, fresh paint and safety checks rolling out across green spaces and play areas.
The council's Outside Spaces team has been working across the city, clearing leaves, repainting equipment and replacing worn furniture. New swings and ropes are being fitted in Bignal Rand play park, with revamped benches also going in at Tor Furlong.
Upcoming works include the repainting of the bandstand in the recreation ground, bench replacements, goalpost upgrades, and general maintenance at Hawkers Road.
Residents are encouraged to report anything that needs attention by emailing [email protected] or calling 07149 673091.
The Wells Litter Pickers will also be out in force across the weekend of 21–22 February. The group of community volunteers is still welcoming new sign-ups to help tackle rubbish in public areas.
