WELLS SOUP! will be back to benefit another four good causes on Saturday January 14. . £5 gets you delicious soup, fresh bread - and a vote.

At SOUP! volunteers from each good cause explains what they do and take questions from the audience which then votes on which one would benefit most from the money on offer. But all four go away with a share of it and a raised public profile

Already 80 local charities or projects benefitting Wells have benefitted from SOUP! and any more who would like to present at SOUP! during 2023 can apply through www.wellsindependents.org/soup

One special guest coming to learn about the success of SOUP! is the new Bishop of Bath and Wells, the Right Reverend Michael Beasley.

"We look forward to welcoming him for a memorable light lunch," said SOUP! organiser Ross Young from Wells Independents, "and hear the four speakers tell us in four minutes how their good cause supports local people."

Then the audience asks the speakers about their good causes and casts their votes.

The venue is the Connect Centre in Wells at 12.45pm on January 14 and all are welcome.

The good causes will be:

  • Wells Community Fridge, a collection point for sharing surplus food from shops and restaurants, and reducing waste
  • The Mother's Union which helps disadvantaged families
  • The Connect Community Centre, a charity providing a multi-purpose community hub
  • Guide Dogs for the Blind

"Before the four good causes give their four-minute presentations, previous winners the local YMCA will explain to the audience how they are using the money they received at October's SOUP! and the impact it is having," said Ross, "and we are grateful to Probusiness Accountants of Wells for match-funding January's event with £350."

Wells SOUP! was founded in 2016 by Wells Independents and is a powerful tool to start conversations, enjoy yourself and improve where you live.
