Wells skatepark fund hits £325k after council pledge
By Laura Linham 6th Jul 2026
Wells Skatepark has moved a major step closer after Wells City Council committed a further £85,000 to the project.
The pledge takes the council's total investment to £100,000, making it the project's largest supporter so far. The skatepark campaign has now raised and pledged more than £325,000 towards its £500,000 target.
The Wells Skatepark project said it was "delighted" by the latest support from the city council. The group said the funding showed a commitment to improving leisure facilities and helping bring a modern, accessible skatepark to Wells.
Planning permission has already been secured for the project, with the design complete and specialist contractors ready to begin. Campaigners said the latest pledge brings the city another important step closer to delivering a skatepark for Wells and surrounding communities.
The project team thanked Wells City Council for its continued support, as well as everyone who has helped the campaign reach its latest milestone. It said the new skatepark would be designed to benefit local people for generations to come.
The project is still working towards its £500,000 goal, with about £175,000 still needed to reach the full target.
The full story is expected to appear in the next edition of The Wells Voice.
