Wells shoppers are gearing up for Black Friday, with the city ranking among the UK’s top bargain-hunting locations.

Wells has been revealed as one of the top 10 cities in the UK on the hunt for Black Friday bargains, showing a significant surge in online searches for deals last month.

Data from UK holiday provider Parkdean Resorts has highlighted Wells as one of the most enthusiastic cities gearing up for Black Friday, with a 277% increase in searches for the term in October.

This means that nearly 7% of the city's population has been preparing to snag a discount in time for the annual sales bonanza.

Black Friday, which falls on Friday, 29 November this year, is widely regarded as the unofficial start to the festive shopping season, offering significant discounts on everything from tech and fashion to home goods. In the UK alone, searches for 'Black Friday' exceeded 1.8 million last month, reflecting the growing anticipation for deals.

Despite its small size, Wells has proven itself to be a hotspot for bargain hunters, ranking ninth on the UK's top 10 list of deal-seeking cities. It sits alongside major shopping hubs like Manchester, which tops the list with over 41,000 searches in October—equating to 10.4% of its population.

Other notable cities include Durham, Lichfield, and Birmingham, but Wells stands out as the only Somerset location to make the cut. With 810 searches last month, the city's enthusiasm for the event is on par with Ripon, which also saw 6.7% of its population searching for Black Friday offers.
