There will be temporary traffic lights on the Strawberry Way Roundabout in Wells for a month from next week.

The multi-way lights will be in place at the roundabout, where the A39 and A371 meet, from Saturday February 8 to March 4.

The lights will be there so Western Power Distribution can do works on a new substation, and there will also be a number of other works around the roundabout during this time.

The good news is that the temporary traffic lights for an earlier stage of the works in Priory Road and Southover should be gone by the end of Wednesday February 5.

Other roadworks in the Wells area this week include:

The B3139 Bath Road at Haydon will be closed from Monday February 3 to Friday February 7 to enable urgent felling of dangerous ash trees.

However, the closure of Wells High Street for Wales and West Utilities to fix a gas leak should be lifted by the end of Tuesday February 4.

On Wednesday, there will be multi-way temporary traffic lights at the junction of Wookey Hole Road and Merlin Drive so BT can carry out fibre cabling.

From Tuesday to February 11, there will be multi-way temporary traffic lights at Whitnell Corner/Burnt Wood Crossroads to enable Truespeed to do cabling work.

Similar Truespeed work will also mean there will be temporary traffic lights in Old Frome Road, East Horrington, from Thursday February 6 to February 10.

From Tuesday to Thursday, BT will be replacing a pole in Union Street, and Bristol Water will be replacing a leak in Keward Avenue.

Finally, Western Power Distribution's work in Woodbury Close should be completed by the end of Monday.
