Police in Wells are warning drivers to lock their cars and hide their valuables after a spike in thefts from vehicles across the city.
Officers say the number of reported break-ins has risen in recent weeks, with criminals targeting unlocked vehicles and items left on show. Thefts have been reported at car parks and tourist hotspots, with police increasing foot, bike and mobile patrols as the festive shopping period ramps up.
The neighbourhood team is urging anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage that could help identify suspects to come forward.
Motorists are being told to:
• Lock their vehicles every time they leave them
• Remove or hide all valuables from view
• Security-mark belongings to deter thieves
• Report any suspicious activity to 101 or online
Officers say these small steps can make a big difference as they work with the community to keep the streets safer.
