Stepping Stones preschool in Wells seeks community support for a £50,000 fundraiser to rebuild after its facility is deemed beyond repair.

A much-loved preschool in Wells is calling on the community to back a £50,000 fundraiser to help build a new home after its current building was declared beyond repair.

Stepping Stones, which has been supporting families in Wells for over 35 years, has launched The Big Step campaign in an effort to secure its future.

Staff say the building is "at the end of its working life" — but demand is higher than ever, with full sessions booked and a waiting list already in place.

The aim is to raise £50,000 to match a grant bid and kick-start the move to a new, purpose-built site within the grounds of Stoberry Park School, with the backing of Somerset Council. The new setting would provide up to 40 places.

A major raffle will form the heart of the campaign, with tickets on sale from August to late October.

So far, £13,465 has been raised by 12 supporters.
